Xiaomi Mi 11 Pro and 11 Ultra will be equipped with the same battery technology as in electric cars, thinner and faster charging

During the March 29 event, Xiaomi will launch the new high-end smartphone duo Mi 11 Pro and Mi 11 Ultra. Besides powerful configuration and many advanced features, Mi 11 Pro and 11 Ultra will be equipped with battery technology like in electric cars. This is a major breakthrough in battery technology in smartphones.

Xiaomi will switch to batteries with silicon-oxygen anodes (SiO4). This silicon-oxygen battery technology is relatively new, it has never been used in smartphones. Xiaomi says the technology is inspired by electric cars, not only reducing the size of the battery, but also significantly increasing charging speed.

The addition of silicon at the nanoscale could theoretically increase the battery capacity per gram by ten times that of graphite batteries. The main benefit is making the battery thinner and charging faster.

In addition to this March 29 event, Xiaomi will launch a new custom processor chip, most likely the Surge S2.
