Vietnam bags 5 medals at Wecode 2016

Vietnamese students won 5 medals in the Apprentice (7-9 age group) category at Wecode 2016, which was held in Jakarta, Indonesia on November 27.

They are Tran Thuong Gia Huy, Nguyen Nhat Hung, Nguyen Ngoc Minh Quan, Nguyen Huy An, and Bui TrongNhan. All of them come from Teky Academy.

With an allocated time of up to one hour, participants were asked to develop programmes with a maximum file size of 25 MB and a minimum length of 25 seconds.

Themed ‘Public Transport’, the programmes present the definition and the benefits of public transport and how it can be used to solve the current traffic problem, as well as to suggest ways to improve public transport.

The WeCode contest is held as part of the Digital Campus organised by Youth On Unity, a non-profit organisation dedicated to the social, educational and physical development of the youth.

Targeting primary and secondary school students in the Southeast Asian region, the competition aims to cultivate the students’ Higher-Order Thinking Skills, such as problem-solving, creative thinking and finding innovative solutions to problems.

This year’s event attracted the participation of 155 young contestants competing in 4 categories, including Apprentice, Advance, Expert and Master.
