TikTok starts releasing videos with longer lengths

TikTok is an application associated with short and vertical format videos. Videos on TikTok have a maximum length of only 1 minute. However, this app is extending the duration limit of the videos to 3 times. This change is intended to help video creators no longer be constrained and have to post videos in multiple parts.

3-minute videos have been tested by TikTok since December last year. You can come across some such videos by some of the top creators on TikTok. However, these long videos are limited by certain users. In the near future, TikTok will launch long videos for all users.

TikTok did not say how its algorithm will change, when longer videos are applied. It is a fact that longer videos can keep users in the app longer.

Similar to YouTube when it first developed. The platform has biased videos with better user retention, which are also long videos. That’s why everything on YouTube is longer than 10 minutes.

TikTok reaches users with short videos, in stark contrast to YouTube. But if longer videos are better at retaining users, chances are we’ll see less recommended short videos.
