Netherlands restricts sales of advanced chip manufacturing equipment

Dutch officials said the measure was taken in the interest of national security because the devices could have military applications.

The new rules require companies that make advanced chip-making devices to apply for a license before exporting these devices.

The new regulation is accompanied by a technical document stating which equipment requires a license for export. The new regulations are expected to take effect on September 1, 2023.

The Dutch move comes as the US puts pressure on its allies to limit the sale of high-tech components to China.
