iPhone 14 Pro has a serious error again

Tram Ho

Recently, users in China continue to complain about burn-in on two iPhone 14 Pro / Pro Max models equipped with OLED screens and Dynamic Island. This situation has been mentioned by some iPhone 14 Pro and 14 Pro Max users from many parts of the world.

Specifically, the screen of the device appears shaded by the wallpaper even when the user has opened another application. On some devices, the faint horizontal stripe extends around the area containing the front camera cluster and the device’s sensor.

On Twitter, user Nayan Dewri said that his iPhone 14 Pro encountered this phenomenon less than a month after purchase, although the device was still working normally.

According to experts, burn-in occurs because OLED screens have to display a static content for a long time, like a logo or fixed navigation buttons. The pixels in that area light up continuously, degenerating compared to other pixels.

In addition to the special design of Dynamic Island, the cause is expected to be the Always On Display feature. In this mode, the wallpaper will always be visible even when the device is locked, even if the brightness is reduced to a low level.

Apple has not yet commented on the information. Technically, the company is said to have used the content displacement method to make the pixels on the screen change the display color, thereby preventing burn-in. However, it seems that this method is still not enough.

A user in China said that he brought the device to the store and received a free screen replacement under the Apple Care + warranty policy.

Previously, the iPhone 14 Pro/14 Pro Max was also complained about other screen-related errors. At the beginning of the year, a series of iPhone 14 users in many parts of the world, including Vietnam, had screen stripes after updating to the new iOS.

Apple later acknowledged that a software bug was the cause of some iPhone 14 Pro/14 Pro Max crashes, but it could be fixed through an operating system update.
