Huawei’s AppGallery app store has suddenly grown at a rapid rate

According to newly released data, Huawei’s AppGallery app store seems to be growing at a rapid rate, despite many criticisms in the past. In a recent press release, Huawei revealed that the platform attracted more than 2.3 million developers, 80% more than the year before.

Globally, there are 530 million users using the platform on a monthly basis, spread across 42 countries compared to 25 in 2019. Huawei’s ecosystem is particularly attractive to developers in China. This is also understandable.

The games are most strongly growing on AppGallery platform, with 5 times more new games than last year. Total downloads hit 384.4 billion in 2020, double that of previous years.

“We continue to see strong growth across markets in Europe, Latin America, Asia Pacific, Africa and the Middle East,” Huawei said .

However, no matter how large Huawei’s app store is, there are still no familiar Google apps. Applications like Gmail, Google Maps, YouTube or Chrome are all very familiar to users.

Plus the difficulties in self-manufacturing smartphones, due to lack of supply of processor chips. Huawei has not been able to solve its problems yet. Even if there is a thriving ecosystem, there is no hardware device to use.
