Huawei is willing to share its self-developed operating system with other Android smartphone makers, but it is not known if anyone wants to use it.

Huawei developed the HarmonyOS operating system itself as a replacement for Android, after being banned by the US from cooperating with Google and not allowed to use Google services. Recently, Huawei launched HarmonyOS 2.0 version, and told Android smartphone manufacturers that they are willing to share the operating system.

“Huawei can help Chinese smartphone manufacturers use HarmonyOS operating system and alternative services for Google Mobile Services,” said Richard Yu, Consumer Business Manager .

This is indeed a generous proposal from Huawei, but maybe it also comes from the desire to help the HarmonyOS operating system “homegrown” develop faster. No matter how good an operating system, but has too few users and doesn’t appeal to developers, will fail.

However, this is also a good solution, if in the future another Chinese smartphone maker falls into Huawei’s situation. HarmonyOS and services developed by Huawei will then serve as alternatives to Android and Google services.
