HP: The perfect laptop runs macOS, not Windows

Tram Ho

From the perspective of computer maker HP, the “perfect laptop” won’t run Windows, but instead macOS – at least according to an ad the company just posted. Reddit The promotional image shows an HP laptop with the look and feel of Apple’s macOS operating system.

“For those who work remotely and from anywhere without being at home, HP has the perfect laptop for you. The perfect laptop for every aspect of work,” the ad reads. The accompanying image shows an HP laptop running the Chrome browser to access Gmail, accompanied by the macOS interface with elements such as the menu bar on the top edge, the Siri button and of course the Apple logo.

HP’s promotional image on Reddit shows the macOS operating system interface

Legally, Apple only allows users to install and use the macOS operating system on hardware it produces. However, theoretically, since Apple switched to Intel chips in 2006, people have found a way to install macOS on PCs. This process is commonly known as “hackintosh”.

However, as a strategic partner of Microsoft, it can be seen that this advertising image of HP is merely a Photoshop “accident”. In the past, many famous electronics companies such as Samsung or Huawei have also been caught using Apple products in advertising campaigns.

Currently, HP is the second largest computer manufacturer in the world, with Lenovo leading the way. Meanwhile, Apple is in fourth place.
