Facebook content administrator: ‘Mark Zuckerberg is giving our life for profit’

At the heart of the matter, according to content moderators employed by third-party companies like Accenture, is that many people are now required to work in the office. And this came despite confirmed COVID-19 infections in the buildings where they worked.

But, many media reports indicated the discrepancy. The Verge reported in October that Facebook content censors are being “forced” back to their Dublin, Ireland office.

According to the New York Times, the people who signed the letter Wednesday – a significant portion remain anonymous for fear of retaliation – wanted the opportunity to work from home. They also want to become employees at Facebook.

“By outsourcing our work, Facebook implies that 35,000 of us are somehow beyond the scope of this social networking platform,” the letter wrote. “However, we are such an integral part of Facebook’s viability that we have to risk our lives for it to work.”
