Elon Musk commented on Jeff Bezos’s post, ‘you are only number 2, I am rich at number 1’

According to Bloomberg, it seems that Elon Musk wants Jeff Bezos to know he is the richest man in the world.

Accordingly, the Tesla CEO responded to a tweet by Bezos yesterday with a silver medal icon. The move comes at a time when the wealth gap between the two billionaires widened a lot last week as SpaceX’s value surged. That helps Elon Musk’s fortune now reach $222 billion, while Jeff Bezos’s similar figure is $190.8 billion according to Bloomberg calculations.

The public sarcasm between Musk and Bezos comes as both billionaires are working to revolutionize the space industry.

Bezos’ Blue Origin is enthusiastically opposing the US government’s contract with SpaceX to develop technology to send people to the moon. Meanwhile Musk previously took to Twitter and called the Amazon founder a “copycat”. In a new filing submitted to the US authorities, Blue Origin also sued Musk and SpaceX for “disregarding common regulations”.

In his late Sunday post, Bezos posted a snapshot of a 1999 Barron’s article criticizing Amazon and describing the company’s failed future predictions. Accompanying this image, Jeff Bezos asserted that the newspaper was wrong and that Amazon has now become one of the world’s most successful and growing companies, at the forefront of two different industries.

Musk, 50, added $9 billion to his fortune Friday after SpaceX’s valuation surpassed $100 billion, four times that of Blue Origin. Even so, three-quarters of Musk’s fortune still comes from Tesla.

This isn’t the first time Elon Musk has made a mockery of Jeff Bezos. On September 27, Elon Musk became the third person in the world to ever own a fortune of $200 billion. When Forbes asked to comment on this achievement, Musk took action to celebrate his victory over the Amazon founder.

“I’m sending a giant figurine with the digit ‘2’ to Jeffrey B., with a silver medal attached,” Musk wrote in a short email.

In recent years, the world’s two richest men have entered a race on two fronts: net worth and space ambitions.
