Because these devices are not only old in hardware, but they may no longer be supported for software updates in June this year. Besides,if the above rumor turns out to be true, the above iPhones will be even cheaper.

Last year, iOS 16 was also not supported on iPhone 6s, iPhone 6s Plus, iPhone 7, iPhone 7 Plus, iPhone SE (1st generation) and iPod touch (7th generation). According to a report issued by MacRumors, the unnamed source “has a history of certain accuracy regarding information regarding upcoming software updates”.

MacRumors also said that the decision to stop updating iOS 17 for the aforementioned devices may be related to a bootrom vulnerability that cannot be patched. This affects processors from A5 to A11.

In addition to the iPhone series mentioned above, the first-generation 9.7-inch and 12.9-inch iPad Pro as well as the fifth-generation iPad are also said to not support iPadOS 17.
