The camera of OnePlus 8 Pro has a special mode, which see through objects and clothes

OnePlus 8 Pro has just been launched, and tech blogger Ben Geskin has discovered a very special camera feature on this smartphone. It is like an X-ray machine, which can see through objects.

Turns out, the OnePlus 8 Pro’s 5MP color filter camera can see through a few plastic materials, if you choose the Photochrom color filter mode in OnePlus’ default camera app.

You can point the camera of the OnePlus 8 Pro smartphone to a keyboard, Apple TV or other devices with a plastic casing, and you can see the internal components just like looking through X-rays.

As confirmed by AndroidPit, the OnePlus 8 Pro’s camera can see through clothing. However, you may not need to worry because it can only see a few special materials behind the clothing. This smartphone will not be used to look at people’s underwear.

The reason explained by AndroidPit is that the OnePlus 8 Pro’s rear 5MP color filter camera is sensitive to infrared light. Conventional cameras will have an infrared filter, which blocks the light outside the visible spectrum of the human eye, as they can interfere with the picture taken.

DSLR cameras can also use special filters to be more sensitive to infrared light. Meanwhile, OnePlus 8 Pro does not need to use a lot of tricks and still be able to capture infrared light.

You can even see through the clothing fabric, but will not be able to use it to look at underwear.

Different materials will absorb different wavelengths. Some of the materials that we see that are not transparent, such as the T-shirt or the plastic shell of the remote control, are actually transparent with infrared light, like a transparent human body with steps. X-ray wave

If you have a camera that is sensitive to infrared light (human wavelengths cannot be seen with the naked eye), you can see through materials that do not absorb infrared wavelengths. And that’s why OnePlus 8 Plus can do that.

OnePlus has yet to comment on this particular feature of the OnePlus 8 Plus smartphone. It is also unclear whether this could be an interesting feature, or an error that needs to be fixed. However, many people will be afraid of having a see-through smartphone on the market.
