With the exception of stablecoins like USDC, hackers have found a way to convert a large portion of the stolen cryptocurrency into other funds.

Meanwhile, Poly Network is trying to establish a communication channel by sending messages to the hacker’s e-wallet address, to convince the hacker to return part of the stolen tokens.

Amid the hopelessness of recovering the vast amount of money lost, blockchain security firm SlowMist says it has traced back the identity of the attacker. The company said it was able to find the device’s email address, IP information and fingerprints. The firm said that the attacker’s original source of funds was XMR, but it has now been converted into BNB, ETH and MATIC, among other tokens to support the attack.

SlowMist CTO, also known as Blue, said: ” We’ve told PolyNetwork and O3 that we have some information about the attacker, if they need it we can share it with them. .”

Other crypto experts also noticed that some of the hacker’s wallets had a lot of DeFi activity. They point out that these wallets have a lot of interaction with centralized exchanges, including FTX, Binance, and OKEx, where hackers can bypass identity verification measures.

Apparently also sniffing that he was about to be exposed, the attacker also sent a message via a transaction from one of the wallets containing his stolen tokens to the same wallet.
