Scams using AI technology are increasingly popular in the US

Subjects often take advantage of artificial voice tools that use AI to steal money from victims by impersonating a member of their family.

A survey showed that up to 25% of respondents said they had been victims or heard of cases of being scammed through AI voice cloning, 70% of these respondents admitted to not being able to tell the difference with confidence between real human voice and AI.

Since March, US officials have also warned of an increase in the problem of “grandparent scams”, specifically those who impersonate a nephew who is in trouble and needs money urgently.
