In an article posted on Weibo, leak expert Ice Universe said that Samsung is testing a charging capacity greater than 25W for new flagship models. Therefore, it is likely that we will see 45W or 65W fast charging on devices of the Galaxy S22 series.

Most recent Samsung flagships only support a maximum charging speed of 25W. Previously, the company included 45W fast charging for the Galaxy S20 Ultra and Galaxy Note 10+, but cut it back to 25W when it launched the Galaxy S21 and Note 20 series. FCC certification documents found recently confirmed that that the Galaxy S21 FE will support 45W fast charging, so it wouldn’t be too surprising if Samsung can further improve and equip the Galaxy S22 series with 65W charging.

Galaxy S21 Ultra is Samsung’s last smartphone to support 45W fast charging

Earlier this year, TUV SUD certification was found for a new Samsung charger with model number EP-TA865. It supports a maximum output of 20V 3.25A, with the ability to provide up to 65W of charging power. In addition, the certification document also says that this charger supports PPS, has the ability to adjust the output voltage and amperage at will, up to 65W of course.

In fact, the fact that Samsung is certified for a 65W charger does not necessarily mean that the company will equip this charging capacity for the Galaxy S22 series. However, as none of their devices support 65W fast charging yet, so it can be said that the company is developing a 65W charger for one of the upcoming smartphone models. Galaxy S22 is a good candidate, but the high possibility of 65W fast charging will only be available on the most advanced Ultra version.
