Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro have finally been upgraded by Google with camera hardware in addition to software algorithms

During the recent Pixel Fall event, Google launched its latest flagship smartphone duo, which is the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro. One of the biggest improvements and upgrades of this new Pixel smartphone duo is the camera module, hardware that Google hasn’t upgraded in years.

Pixel smartphones have always been highly appreciated for their ability to handle photography algorithms. However, Google has disappointed many users, using the same 12.2-megapixel Sony IMX363 sensor from Pixel 3 to Pixel 5 and 5A.

Now, the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro are both upgraded to a 50MP sensor, which is a lot larger than their predecessors. Google says the new camera sensor on the Pixel 6 can help capture 150% more light than the Pixel 5. Both Pixel smartphones also have a 12MP ultra-wide-angle camera, while the Pixel 6 Pro has an additional 48MP telephoto camera with 4x optical zoom.

Pixel’s strength is still photography algorithms, and Google has not forgotten to upgrade that strength. The Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro have an improved portrait mode to better show different skin tones, which Google calls the Real Tone feature.

Another cool feature is Face Unblur, which uses multiple images taken at once in a single shot to keep the subject’s face sharp, even during fast motion. The Motion Mode feature also makes it possible to capture fast-moving and long-exposure shots, you can capture light trails from vehicles just like a professional camera.

Finally, the Magic Eraser feature can help you erase people or objects that accidentally appear in photos. Even after taking a photo, you can review the photo and choose to delete what you don’t want to make the photo more complete.
