Microsoft Surface Duo is about to run Windows 11

Tram Ho

The first Microsoft Surface Duo came pre-installed with Android 10 operating system and disappointed users because of too many errors. Although not achieved success, but Microsoft still decided to launch the next version, Surface Duo 2. This is still an Android device and it cannot run Windows.

However, now a developer named Gustave Monce has given us our first look at Windows 11 on the Microsoft Surface Duo.

Monce hasn’t been able to bring the full version of Windows 11 to the Microsoft Surface Duo yet, but that’s his ultimate goal. This developer used to bring Windows 10X to Lumia 950XL and then Windows 11.

Projects like this are mostly just demonstrations, hard to use as a mainstay everyday device. However, with the unique dual-screen design of the Surface Duo, it is possible that Windows 11 ARM64 will bring many interesting things to this machine.

Monce confirmed that the preliminary firmware rollout is complete. It may be a while before we see Windows 11 fully usable on the Microsoft Surface Duo, but it’s certainly an interesting project worth keeping an eye on.
