Recently LG has officially launched the new LG V60, the successor to the LG V50 launched last year. And similar to its predecessor, the LG V60 doesn’t bring many worthwhile upgrades. We will still have an unremarkable design, a more powerful hardware configuration and … not a foldable device.
LG V60 looks quite similar to LG V50 in terms of design language, which has been a feature of LG’s smartphone life for the past few years. Of course, there will be some minor changes, such as the flat glass back with beveled edges to make the device look more luxurious. This year the device has 2 new colors: Classy Blue (dark blue with yellow border) and Classy White (white with silver border).
The camera frame on this year’s LG V60 is slightly more convex than the previous generation, but in the process of using it will not be a big problem, users only need to pay attention to wear a case. to avoid scratching the camera frame is “plated” with gold and silver only.
On the front, the LG V60 is equipped with a larger 6.8-inch screen last year, but for some reason LG has cut too hard on the screen resolution. This year the V60 only has a Full HD + screen instead of a 2K + screen like previous generations. Even with a 60Hz refresh rate, the LG V60 may not have a “door” to compete with high-end flagships launched this year (like the Galaxy S20).
This screen on LG V60 still uses high-end P-OLED panels, using the traditional “water drop” design. The screen aspect ratio of the device is 20.5: 9. It also supports HDR10 +, 100% DCI-P3 and is protected by Gorilla Glass 5.
Notable upgrade on the LG V60 after all, it will still be about the camera. The device is equipped with a cluster of 3 main cameras placed horizontally on the back, including a 64MP f / 1.8 wide-angle camera, a 13MP f / 1.9 super wide-angle camera and a 0.3MP ToF 3D camera for depth measurement. The 64MP camera on LG V60 works the same way as smartphones with high-resolution cameras on the market, which is the default mode to interpolate 4 pixels to produce the best 16MP photo.
LG said it does not need to equip a telephoto lens for its smartphones, because when equipped with a 64MP camera, the device will use this high resolution camera to zoom up to 2x distance respectively. Of course, the details will decrease and in many cases, the user may not realize the difference. Therefore, telephoto cameras for LG are not necessary. In addition, the device also has a 10MP selfie camera on the front.
In terms of hardware configuration, LG V60 is equipped with Snapdragon 865 chip (with 5G support) and only one memory option is 8GB RAM + 128GB ROM. This is a loss when comparing V60 with high-end flagships this year because almost every manufacturer offers 128GB – 512GB of storage for users. Even with support for expandable microSD memory cards on the LG V60, users will still prefer a smartphone with a large internal memory. In addition, the LG V60 retains the 3.5mm headphone jack and supports Quad DAC discrete for a better audio experience.
Compared to last year, the battery of LG V60 has been significantly upgraded from 4000mAh to 5000mAh, combined with the lower resolution screen, LG V60 is expected to have an impressive battery life. It also supports QC4 + fast charging technology that allows the first 50% to be fully charged in just 30 minutes and is available on Android 10 as soon as it is sold.
LG V60 will be sold with a removable screen cover, turning this smartphone into a 2-screen phone, similar to how LG addresses the need for “folding screens”. This secondary screen is the same size as the main screen of LG V60. LG said it has improved the back cover a little so that users can easily hold it, and also improves the display quality on the secondary screen. On the front of the secondary screen of the device, there is also a small 2.1-inch screen to help users can track notifications, time easily.
Unfortunately, at the moment, LG has not announced the official price for its LG V60 ThinQ 5G, however, the company said that the device will be priced at the same level as its predecessor, which is about 700 – 800 USD, this price will be much lower than the standard Galaxy S20.
