Seminar on Artificial Intelligence (AI) with social sciences and humanities: Trends and approaches coordinated by the University of Social Sciences and Humanities (Social Sciences and Humanities), Vietnam National University, Ho Chi Minh City in collaboration with the Ministry of Science and Technology (Science and Technology) held today (June 16) in Ho Chi Minh City.

Speaking at the Seminar, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Vu Hai Quan, Member of the Central Committee of the Party, Director of the Vietnam National University, Ho Chi Minh City, said that artificial intelligence (AI) is one of the fundamental technology fields. of the Fourth Industrial Revolution (4.0) is increasingly interested in developing on a large scale in many countries around the world as well as countries in the Asia-Pacific region such as Japan, China.. .

With the “explosion” of AI technology, there are a number of problems in research in this field in Vietnam today such as: Ethical and legal standards in new research on AI? AI creates many new jobs, but there are also many lost jobs, so it is necessary to study AI’s impact policies to solve labor and employment issues in the development process; How to promote interdisciplinary research on AI in the future? Speaking at the Seminar, Deputy Minister Bui The Duy, Alternate Member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Minister of Science and Technology affirmed that the Ministry of Science and Technology is very interested in ethical and legal issues related to AI, this is a very important seminar. expected for managers, scientists.

“The seminar will discuss many professional issues, research orientations, pose management problems for research, application and deployment of AI in the coming period, contributing to the successful implementation of the development strategy. AI development as well as Vietnam’s digital transformation strategy”, the Deputy Minister expressed his belief.

Deputy Minister Bui The Duy set out four groups of research issues for the Workshop to discuss, including: Integrating research results of Social Sciences and Humanities into AI research and development such as: emotions, psychology; Ethical and legal standards in the construction and application of AI in social life; Assess the impact of society (to each individual) when implementing extensive AI applications in life, thereby proposing appropriate solutions in AI research and application; AI application to promote outputs in social sciences and humanities research.

At the Seminar, experts and scientists exchanged and discussed the following issues: The role of social sciences and humanities, research orientation and issues related to AI; Applying AI and intelligent interaction in preserving traditional culture; National Artificial Intelligence Strategy to 2030 and AI Application in Social Sciences and Humanities; Artificial Intelligence in Social Sciences and Humanities: Scope of application, challenges and directions.

Concluding remarks, Minister Huynh Thanh Dat said that research and application of AI is a very strong trend in recent years. Vietnam also has an AI Development Strategy. However, issues related to the impact of AI research and application on society and people are currently less concerned than the technological aspect.

According to Minister Huynh Thanh Dat, the seminar showed that the influence of AI on society, people, and scientific research activities… is very clear, including both positive and negative aspects. “We see more clearly the necessity of building a legal corridor for the research and application of AI in life,” the Minister emphasized.

Minister Huynh Thanh Dat suggested that functional departments of the Ministry of Science and Technology organize the development of AI-related S&T tasks in the field of Social Sciences and Humanities, especially in national science and technology programs. In it, note the research on legal aspects, ethics, impact of AI. “The Ministry of Science and Technology wishes that scientists continue to pay attention and accompany the Ministry of Science and Technology in the coming time.”
