Huawei is one of the "giants" of China's technology industry, the world's largest provider of telecommunications equipment, leading the 5G technology. At the end of last year, the company also surpassed Apple to become the world's second largest smartphone company, after Samsung.

However, for the West, especially for the United States, Huawei is still something of a mystery, even suspicious of them that is closely related to the Chinese government. For many years, Washington was concerned that Beijing would use Huawei devices to spy on other countries, and to list the "threat to national security".

Of course, Huawei always denies. Recently, the company demonstrated it by opening some of its factories and employees' offices in Dongguan and Shenzhen – the area known as China's Silicon Valley – to the media. Kevin Frayer, a Getty Images photographer, had a chance to visit the Huawei factory in April and recorded many photos inside. Huawei has 180,000 employees worldwide. More than one third of this work in two facilities that Frayer visited in Dongguan and Shenzhen, mainly related to production, research and development, finance … This is one of the attractive places. most Chinese workers because of high salary, especially those with high skills. The company attracts a large number of employees who have been trained abroad or leading universities in the country, as well as international experts.

Huawei employees work on a production line in Dongguan. Frayer marveled at the scale of the facilities that the Chinese company built. "When I first arrived, I was really overwhelmed by everything," Frayer said.

After a meal, employees can take a lunch break right under the desk, which is common in most Chinese companies.

After the tour, Frayer said his feeling at the Huawei factory was not like a workplace. "It's more like a university campus, quiet and relaxed, unlike the noise like most of China," he said.

In addition, Frayer also had the opportunity to chat with the staff here. "They are open, friendly, always happy with their work and are proud of it," Frayer said. "Some people are worried about foreign misconceptions about Huawei, and try to explain that Huawei is just a technology company trying to innovate like any other technology company."
