How much does Facebook have to pay for personal information of users?

German Facebook users want the social network to pay them about 8 USD per month to share personal information, while US users ask only 3.5 USD.
Recently, the Institute of Technology Policy (TPI) of the United States published a study showing how people in different countries value their personal information. This is the first study to try to quantify the value of privacy and online data. It assesses how valuable privacy is in 6 countries including USA, Germany, Mexico, Brazil, Columbia and Argentina.
It addresses the growing concern about how companies collect and monetize personal data. US regulators impose hefty fines on Facebook and YouTube for privacy violations.
Scott Wallsten, president and senior member of TPI, told Reuters: “The difference in how people value privacy of different types of data varies from country to country. might prefer weaker rules, while elsewhere want stronger rules. The value of privacy should be quantified to perform any analysis of the proposed privacy policies. ”
Research shows that Germans want to be paid more for technology platforms to share their personal data with third parties, followed by U.S. consumers. Everyone sees the most important information as financial information such as bank balances and biometric information like fingerprint data, while location data is of the least concern.
On average, a technology platform, paying users $ 8.44 monthly to share bank balance information, $ 7.56 to share fingerprint information, $ 6.05 to read news. an individual’s message and 5.8 USD to share information about cash withdrawals. In contrast, people only want to be paid $ 1.82 per month to share location data.
Research shows that Latin American users have an interest in viewing ads on their smartphones, as opposed to Americans and Germans.
