Hong Kong scientists claim to have developed a vaccine for Wuhan corona virus

According to the South China Morning Post, professor Vien Quoc Dung at the University of Hong Kong said his team has been working on a new vaccine against corona virus, which has caused the deaths of 132 people in China to date. 1/29/2020.

“We have produced the vaccine but it will take more time to test the vaccine on animals,” Vien said. Although no specific time frame has been provided, the expert claims it will take several months to test the vaccine on animals and at least 1 year for clinical trials in humans before it can be put into use.

Specifically, the vaccine will be injected into laboratory animals to see if these species produce an immune response. Vaccinated animals are then exposed to the virus for effective testing.

“If the vaccine is effective and safe in some animals, it will soon be clinically tested in humans. This process will take at least a year if everything goes well.”

It is known that the Wuhan pneumonia vaccine is based on a nasal spray flu vaccine, which was developed earlier by the team of Professor Vien. Experts at the University of Hong Kong modified the flu vaccine with a partial antigen of the corona virus. If tested successfully, the vaccine could be the solution to the current disease that infected more than 4,500 people in mainland China, killing 132 people.

According to Xinhua News Agency, the East Shanghai Hospital of Tongji University (Shanghai) has approved a new corona virus vaccine development project. Accordingly, the vaccine will be developed by the hospital and biotechnology company Stemirna Therapeutics in Shanghai. Stemirna Therapeutic company leaders announced that the sample will be produced within 40 days and will be tested before being put into use as soon as possible.
