Hanoi: Hundreds of drivers turn off the app, focus on opposing Grab to raise rates

Sharing with PV, driver Ngo Ba Ta (25 years old) said, running GrabBike is his main job for nearly 2 years. When he heard that Grab raised the fare for each trip, he disagreed with this.

“We were at the headquarters from around 8:00 this morning, all turned off the app to protest this tax increase policy. If such a tax increase runs 13,000 VND, the driver will only get 8,000 VND, the price increase This fare is too unfair for drivers like us “, Mr. Ta said.

Because the number of drivers poured in was too crowded, making traffic difficult, Cau Giay district police sent forces to remind to ensure security and order.

Talking to PV, a Grab media representative said that he had learned that drivers were focusing on opposing tax increases in Hanoi. Grab’s side has cut people to talk and explain to the driver.

“The unit is trying to explain to the driver, this is the regulation of the state, but Grab does not have to voluntarily increase so. The driver is too crowded and is in the season so the unit cannot focus on all. to talk again. Actually, we have communicated about this issue many times, “ said the representative.

Traffic is difficult.

Previously, to ensure driver’s income when VAT increased according to Decree 126, Grab has just increased the price of 5-6% of taxi services, taxi technology nationwide.

Accordingly, the first 2 km fare for the 4-seat GrabCar service in Hanoi, Bac Ninh, Ho Chi Minh City, Binh Duong, Dong Nai and Can Tho increased to VND 27,000, 2,000 higher than before December 5. This rate in other cities such as Hai Phong, Quang Ninh, Da Nang … increased 3,000 VND to 25,000 VND.

Grab also adjusted to increase the fare per km (after the first 2 km) for the 4-seater GrabCar service from VND 500-1,000 depending on the city. In which, 1,000 VND is the largest increase applied to customers in Hanoi and Bac Ninh.

Police are mobilized to ensure security.

Currently, the price per km of GrabCar 4 seats in these two cities is 9,500 VND, equivalent to HCMC, Binh Duong and Dong Nai. The company also adjusted the fare for the 7-seat GrabCar service with the rate of increase equivalent to 4 seats.

With GrabBike technology motorbike taxi service, the fare per km (after the first 2 km) increases from 3,400 VND to 4,000 VND. And the fare calculated according to the travel time (after the first 2 km) increased from 300 to 350 VND per minute.
