Google continues to show “love” for Windows with new features

Having just revealed its plans to bring Android games to Windows, Google now continues to show its love for Microsoft’s operating system by announcing Android features such as Fast Pair and Nearby Share for Windows, which are intended to bring together better connection between the two platforms.

The move comes as part of Google’s broader plan to improve the Android ecosystem with smarter communication between devices, including Chromebooks and Wear OS smartwatches.

Fast Pair and Nearby Share will help quickly set up and pair Bluetooth devices, synchronize messages, and share files.

There have been programs to help bridge the Android-Windows connectivity gap in the past, but Google is likely to bring a solution that’s more seamless now and covers a wide range of Android smartphones in the future. This could also push Microsoft to improve the Your Phone app for better compatibility, which was only developed for Samsung Galaxy and Surface owners.

Similar to bringing Android games to Windows, Google says it’s working with Acer, HP, and Intel to bring these features to select Windows PCs later this year, without going through Microsoft.
