Facebook recently shared a new technology so that online platforms can join hands to block unique content on online platforms.

Facebook will create two sets of open source algorithms to detect child sexual abuse, terrorist propaganda and the spread of violent images. PDQ and TKM + PDQF are two sets of technology for storing files as hash codes (Hash codes) and comparing them to harmful content samples that have been released on Github.

Facebook wishes that technology companies, non-profit organizations and individuals will use this technology to identify more harmful content and add them to shared shared databases. Thereby helping social networking platforms remove dangerous content faster when someone tries to post them.

Facebook also said: "For those who are using content comparison technology like that, Facebook's technology will help create another defensive layer and allow systems to share hash codes that communicate with each other. , make this system even more powerful. ”

Social networking platforms this year are under pressure to remove malicious content. After the shootings at Christchurch Christchurch Church in New Zealand, Australia warned executives to be punished severely or even imprisoned if they could not remove the video of the shooting. In May, Facebook, along with other major technology companies' platforms, joined Christchurch, a commitment to invest more resources in eliminating malicious content online. society and close cooperation between companies.

Facebook's move comes amid children's use of videos being posted online. Mr. John Clark, Director and CEO of the National Center for Exploited and Missing Children (NCMEC), pointed out in a blog post: “In just one year, according to the report of the CyberTipline, the number of videos about children being sexually abused online has increased by 541%. Therefore, we believe that this generous sharing of Facebook with open source technologies will help identify and help more children who are victims of sexual abuse. ”

This is also the first time Facebook has announced open source image and video collation technology. Microsoft and Google had previously contributed similar technology that they developed.
