Elon Musk Forms Twitter Moderation Board

According to Sky News , billionaire Elon Musk said Twitter will form a moderation committee “with widely diverse views” and that ” no significant content decisions or decisions to restore accounts” have been made before this council meets.

Earlier, Musk’s $44 billion acquisition of Twitter was completed. A series of senior Twitter executives are said to have been fired.

The US billionaire also posted a status line saying “the bird is free” and “let the good times begin”, before announcing the establishment of a content moderation committee.

Musk has said he will overhaul Twitter by removing fake accounts and making sure it’s a place where “a wide range of beliefs can be sanely contested”.

Former US President Donald Trump – Twitter’s “most famous” user – is one of those who can have his account restored. The former president was “banned” by Twitter after a violent protest at the US Capitol in January 2021. He was accused of inciting violence. Earlier this year, Musk called the ban a “mistake” and “morally wrong”.

Mr. Trump celebrated the Tesla CEO’s takeover of Twitter on TruthSocial, the conservative social media platform he created. According to Trump, Twitter is “now in healthy hands” and will “no longer be run by people who really hate our country”.

Musk describes himself as a “liberalist” . However, he also assured advertisers that Twitter will not become “a free hell for everyone, where anything can be said without consequences”.

Billionaire Musk has also told investors that he plans to roll out a paid version of Twitter to reduce reliance on ads, allow content creators to make money and enable payments, according to Reuters.
