Could the iPhone 14 miss out on one of the most regrettable upgrade points?

Tram Ho

Previous rumors and reports from analysts revealed that Apple is working on a new chip on the 3nm process. However, it seems that these revelations do not seem to be true to the previous ones.

According to many sources, TSMC is facing some problems in the production of new generation chips. This seems unrelated but turns out to have a significant impact on chip supply delays. TSMC is currently a long-time partner specializing in chip production for Apple.

According to the engineers in charge of the problem, the new 3 nm chip won’t be able to supply the iPhone 14 series in time. Even so, TSMC will start producing the 3 nm chip before its competitors in the market. However, the shortage of 3nm chip for the iPhone 14 series is likely to happen and it is likely that Apple will have to use the Apple A15 chip for the next iPhone generation.

If so, Apple is likely to choose another name for this chip line, such as Apple A15 Pro or Apple A15 Max.

However, using the same chip doesn’t mean there won’t be other improvements. Apple can tweak the chip’s performance, but the tech world is expecting a lot more from next year’s chip.

According to people familiar with the matter, Qualcomm, MediaTek and Samsung will switch to the 4 nm manufacturing process by the end of this year. MediaTek will most likely supply chips to TSMC, while Qualcomm will take advantage of Samsung’s 4nm process.

MediaTek is expected to introduce the Dimensity 2000 chip running on the 4 nm process. For the first time in years, the company will launch a chip powerful enough to stand on par with the flagship Qualcomm Snapdragon 898 and Samsung Exynos 2200 running on the 4nm process.

Apple is preparing a major overhaul on the upcoming iPhone 14 series. The product line will bring major design changes and remove the notch. Accordingly, the new generation of iPhone is expected to be equipped with a punch-hole screen. In addition, the entire new iPhone line is expected to have a screen with a refresh rate of 120 Hz and an integrated Touch ID sensor. However, it is not clear whether the fingerprint sensor will be placed under the screen or placed on the side like the iPad line.
