On October 7, the United States added 31 Chinese companies, including chip maker YMTC Yangtze Memory Technologies Co, to a list of companies that US officials cannot audit to verify whether the companies This company can be trusted to responsibly manage sensitive export technologies. These companies may be placed on the US Department of Commerce’s economic sanctions blacklist.

The US Department of Commerce also announced new regulations on export control of chips and semiconductors to limit China’s ability to buy and produce high-end chips. The new rules include restricting the export of some chips used in the supercomputer sector and tightening regulations on the sale of semiconductors. Some experts say the new US regulation could also affect the commercial data centers of Chinese tech giants.
