[CES 2020] Close-up of Dell XPS 13 (2020): New design standard of Windows laptops

At CES 2020, Dell launched a new version of the XPS 13 codenamed XPS 13 9300. This machine brings a number of display and configuration improvements over its predecessor.

The most noticeable change in the XPS 13 9300 is the ultra-thin screen border. In the past few years, the Dell XPS 13 has had very thin bezels, but this new 9300 model has reached a new level.

The biggest improvement is in the bottom of the screen. Dell said it reduced the size of the bezels on the bottom edge from 19.5mm to only 4.6mm, thereby achieving a screen-to-body ratio of 91.5%.

When compared to the previous generation of XPS 13 (left), it can be seen that the new XPS 13 has a much more attractive design.

Not only does it reduce the size of the borders, Dell also changes the aspect ratio from the 16: 9 of the old XPS 13 generation to 16:10 on the new generation. This higher screen ratio will help improve the ability of users to work, especially for web surfing and office tasks.

In terms of connectivity, the XPS 13 9300 now has only 2 USB-C / Thunderbolt 3 ports, a Micro SD card slot and a headphone jack. Thus, Dell has removed 1 USB-C port compared to the old generation. In addition, the remaining battery life indicator has disappeared.

Inside the XPS 13 9300 is the 10th-generation Intel chip (Ice Lake) with various options such as Core i3-1005G1, Core i5-1035G1 or Core i7-1065G7. RAM capacities range from 4GB to 32GB and SSDs range from 256GB to 2TB. The XPS 13 9300 will start at $ 1,000 and go on sale from January 7 in the US.
