Cause Chinese backup battery or fire: up to 40% are not up to standard, some are still pouring sand inside

(Homeland) – The results of the survey are published by the China National Market Administration.

Fire batteries are not uncommon in China, while they are popular with smartphone users because they allow charging while on the go. Their ignition or ignition has become the cause of disruption to many buses, subways and even aircraft in China.

The reason for this situation is easy to understand, that is because the battery pack of poor quality is being sold rampant at surprisingly cheap prices.

In a recent CCTV report, China National Market Regulatory Authority (SAMR) found that up to 40% of backup batteries in the market were substandard quality. The survey looked at 75 backup battery models made by 72 different companies from four provinces in China. Among them, there are 29 battery models having quality problems. One of the most serious problems is overcharging, which can lead to ignition or smoke discharge to the outside.

The broadcaster itself conducted a small test on its own. In a small electronics store in Guangzhou, they found that there were extra batteries on sale for only $ 4 each.

CCTV tried to buy 3 backup batteries in that store and sent them to a local product quality testing institute. All of these batteries have quality problems. CCTV said that the batteries either do not have enough capacity as committed, or there is no product confirmation mark has been tested according to national standards.

A battery cell in a backup battery is even full of sand and produces no electricity at all.

One of the battery types mentioned above even has a battery cell that does not produce electricity. It has a different color than the other cells in that battery pack. When investigators tried to remove it to see where the damage was known, the inside of the battery cell was full of sand and no battery. CCTV said this could be one of the tricks to save costs.

Previous investigations of backup batteries in China have also shown serious problems. In another investigation in March, SAMR found that 41% of spare batteries sold on Chinese e-commerce platforms were substandard. However, the agency did not specify any brand names.
