Bose closed its entire retail stores in North America, Europe, Japan and Australia

Bose has just announced plans to close all of its retail stores in North America, Europe, Japan and Australia. This is a very unexpected decision, which could result in hundreds of Bose employees being fired. However, the audio equipment maker points out that consumers are now buying online and through e-commerce sites rather than going to retail stores.

Bose opened its first retail store in 1993, then expanded around the world. Bose is famous for its line of noise-canceling headphones, but later also launched many other rich product lines such as smart speakers, sunglasses and headphones.

Colose Burke, Vice President of Worldwide Sales, Colette Burke, said: “At the beginning, our retail stores made it possible for users to experience, test products and consult. At the time, this was a radical idea, but it was no longer working now. ”

After closing all of its stores in North America, Europe, Japan and Australia, Bose will have about 130 retail stores in China, India, Southeast Asia and South Korea. With the drastic change of users’ shopping habits, Bose is likely to close the remaining 130 retail stores in the future.

In these markets, Bose products will only be sold online through Amazon, Best Buy, Target, Apple, 3rd online retailers and on the company’s website.
