iOS 15.3 and iPadOS 15.3 arrive just two weeks after iOS 15.2.1 and iPadOS 15.2.1. Eligible iPhone and iPad users can download it for free through the Settings app. To do this, go to Settings > General > Software Update.

As Apple notes, iOS 15.3 includes “security upgrades and fixes for iPhones.” In particular, the most important is the recently publicized patch for the Safari browser. Specifically, in iOS 15 and iPadOS 15, there is an issue with the IndexedDB JavaScript API’s WebKit. Websites using IndexedDB can access the names of IndexedDB data generated by other websites when browsing together, essentially allowing a malicious website to track another website that iPhone or iPad users are viewing.

iOS 15.3, iPadOS 15.3 and macOS Monterey 12.2 patch this vulnerability. It also affects Chrome and other browsers on iOS devices. Users should update immediately so that their browsing history and identifying information such as Google ID are no longer tracked.
