Apple announces iOS 17: Upgrading old features alongside new tools

At the WWDC 2023 event, Apple announced a series of new Mac lines, but also did not “forget” the iPhone and announced the latest iOS version – iOS 17 .

The first upgrade is for the contacts app, which lets you choose a profile picture to show on the iPhone screen of the person you’re calling. This feature increases personalization, making it easy for call recipients to recognize who is calling them without even looking at their names.

Besides the ‘ live transcription’ feature that translates the caller’s message into text in real time, you can choose between continuing to read the message or receiving the call.

This feature also applies to the messaging app, allowing you to convert voice messages into text messages – a similar feature to the Pixel 7. Also in the messaging app, users can send the address of themselves, very useful in dates where people need to find each other. Sending images has also become smarter, allowing users to crop an Emoji or part of an image to ‘paste’ into iMessage or anywhere on the system.

AirDrop also has practical upgrades, allowing the transfer of contact information in contacts or email addresses between two iPhones placed side by side. Users can transfer images in this way, and if the image file is too large, it may even go out of the connection area while downloading the file.

iOS 17 also upgraded the input keyboard, using a more advanced language system for autocorrect and applying AI in the ability to suggest words (d ictation). Siri has two upgrades, including allowing users to call by just saying “Siri” instead of the phrase “Hey Siri” as before, as well as allowing continuous commands.

The new iOS version brings a completely new application called Journal that can be considered as an ‘Electronic Diary’ application, allowing users to record the memories of the day, automatically suggest more images and be encrypted. to increase security.

In addition is StandBy, an always-on screen mode while charging iPhone, displaying date and time, Live Activities, widgets, smart stack and automatically switching the screen to landscape while charging.

This is said to be an upgraded version of iOS compared to iOS 16, allowing users to do more without having to go into each application.
