A decade with world-changing Technology initiatives

Only a few hours left, the decade of 2010 will end. What technologies have changed the world completely in the last 10 years?

1. The launch of the iPad in January 2010 opened a vibrant decade for the tech world. Also in 2010, Apple surpassed Microsoft to become the most valuable technology company in the world.

2. Companies that create sharing services such as Uber, Lyft and Airbnb have “disrupted” many traditional industries. Mobile applications make it easy for users to catch a car, book accommodation or food at a lower cost than regular services.

3. The power of sharing applications is shown in the numbers. Airbnb now has more rooms than the five largest hotel chains in the world combined, Uber and Lyft have 65% more trips than taxis in New York.

4. One of the most controversial decisions in the smartphone industry is when Apple decided to remove the headphone jack from the iPhone 7 generation. Other manufacturers have gradually followed Apple.

5. In 2014, Amazon launched the Echo smart speaker with Alexa virtual assistant. This device was initially disparaged, suspected, but later quickly became the trend of technology firms.

6. Apple debuted the first Apple Watch in April 2015. Not a wrist-worn computer, the Apple Watch has just enough smart features to appeal to users, becoming the world’s best-selling watch in just two years.

7. The watch becomes the most suitable wearable device to integrate smart features. Meanwhile, smart glass initiated by Google with Google Glass could not become the trend after its launch in 2013.

8. Tesla is a special case, because they have the lowest sales of the products mentioned in the list. However, Tesla electric cars have promoted the development of the electric car industry in general, as well as technologies such as self-driving cars.

9. The past 10 years also witnessed the trend of using technology to improve health and reduce “addiction” of technological equipment. Devices like the Apple Watch or Fitbit all have multiple sensors to monitor the health status of users.

10. Online movie streaming services such as Netflix, Hulu, HBO and even YouTube have changed the television industry in the last decade. Today’s users no longer have to watch movies on TV, but can watch them anywhere via smartphones and tablets.

11. Although not a front-facing technology, interacting directly with users, platform technologies such as cloud computing, big data and AI are changing the way many people use it. From virtual assistants, low light photography to data backup, all these utilities are created from the aforementioned technologies.

12. iPads and Chromebooks don’t seem to have much in common, but they all change the way we use computers. The iPad was originally an entertainment-oriented device, but is increasingly being upgraded by Apple to work. Chromebooks, on the other hand, provide a simple computing experience for a variety of people, such as children, students, or the elderly, without technology. Smartphones are also replacing many work roles on computers.

13. The most important network technology for mobile devices is that 4G has been in use since 2010. The speed of 4G networks helps ensure that experiences such as watching videos, surfing the web or calling cars that were previously impossible for 3G meet it. That’s why many people expect 5G technology to fuel a technological revolution in the next decade.

Let’s wait for the new decade 2020, with breakthrough initiatives and taking technology to a new level! In 2020, the information technology industry promises to remain a potential industry, as the constant change of technology, and incredible innovations of the people, will make this industry boom in the next decade!
