Recently, online scams have been complicated in the digital environment. According to the Department of Information Security, Ministry of Information and Communications, in the first 6 months of 2023, the situation of online fraud in Vietnam increased by 64.78% over the same period last year, an increase of 37.82 % compared to the last 6 months of 2022.

According to the Information Security Administration, there are 3 main groups of fraud (brand counterfeiting, account appropriation and other combinations) with 24 types of scams taking place in Vietnam’s cyberspace, targeting target groups: the elderly with 15 frequent forms of fraud; children with 3 forms of online lures; students/youth with 13 forms; workers/employees, office workers were lured with 19 forms of fraud…

One of the main causes of this situation is determined to come from the perception of users. In addition to technical solutions, the Information Security Administration realizes that the propaganda, dissemination and awareness raising aims to equip each individual with basic knowledge and skills to ensure information security on the Internet. Cyberspace is a key factor to help create a safe Vietnamese cyberspace, contributing to accelerating the digital transformation process and developing digital socio-economic infrastructure in a sustainable way.

In order to increase awareness and knowledge about online fraud, and protect Vietnamese people against potential risks in cyberspace, on June 23, the Ministry of Information and Communications officially launched the “Monthly” campaign. propaganda action on identification and prevention of online fraud”.

The campaign was deployed from June 23 to July 23, 2023 under the chairmanship of the Information Security Department (Ministry of Information and Communications), in collaboration with members of the Alliance to propagate awareness and skills improvement. ensure information security for people in cyberspace.

The campaign was deployed on a large scale, raising people’s awareness through clips of popular online scams, tips on identifying 24 types of scams, and providing a set of knowledge manuals. Take precautions to protect yourself and your family online.
