Turns out, the “ancient” floppy still works as it should on Windows 11, because the operating system still has support for this very old hardware.

A video posted by Jrcraft on YouTube shows that 5.25″ floppy disks are still properly recognized by Windows 11 and users can read their contents, feeling like going back to the old Windows era.

The floppy disk was first invented and manufactured by IBM in 1971 with a size of 8 inches. In 1976, Shugart Associates introduced the 5.25-inch floppy disk, the kind you see in the video above. In 1981, Sony introduced the 3.5-inch floppy disk format and it became an extremely popular floppy disk format.

Of course, not many people still use floppy disks, but if you still use them, you should be able to access archived files simply with Windows 11.
