You may not know: The first “iPad” was not made by Apple?

Tram Ho

Referring to Apple , the online community is too familiar with names like iPhone, iPad or iPod… These are branded products whenever it comes to the technology giant with a mid-market capitalization value of over 3000 billion.

However, the original iPad name did not actually belong to Apple, which had to spend up to 4 million USD just to buy the name “iPad” from a Japanese electronics company called Fujitsu. In 2002, Fujitsu built a handheld computing device called “iPad”, with support for Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and VoIP. Fujitsu iPad has a 3.5-inch color touch screen and uses an Intel chip.

This is the world’s first “iPad”

Fujitsu’s “iPad” was launched by its US subsidiary in 2002 and is used by retail store employees to store inventory data, scan barcodes, and manage business operations. Because of that, many people often say that the first iPad was not actually produced by Apple.

Steve Job – Apple CEO announced the first iPad on January 27, 2010. The first generation iPad had a 9.7-inch 1024 x 768 touch screen and was equipped with Apple’s A4 chip. The iPad came with the ability to run pre-installed apps both vertically and horizontally – which was considered a “great” thing at the time. At the time of launch, the iPad only had 16GB, 32GB and 64GB internal memory options, accompanied by 2 Wi-Fi or Wi-Fi and 3G connectivity options.
