We’ve seen heart rate monitoring on smartphones, thanks to the fact that Samsung equips special sensors on its previous smartphones. But now, Xiaomi proves that this heart rate monitor does not require specialized sensors.
Xiaomi’s Mi Health app is launching the feature to measure heart rate through the camera and flash on smartphones.
You will need to cover the rear camera and flash with your fingers completely. The flash will illuminate your fingertips, while the camera will be able to measure your heart rate. XDA-Developers discovered this feature and shared some of its screenshots.
To use is very simple, just download the Xiaomi Mi Health app, select the “heart rate” item and click the bottom right button to get started. XDA says the heart rate feature is available in version 2.7.4 of the app.
Currently, there are many Xiaomi smartphone users who have yet to receive this new feature. But perhaps Xiaomi will update in the shortest time. We also do not know the accuracy of this heart rate measurement feature, compared to smartwatch or other specialized devices. However, it will also be an interesting feature to help you keep track of your health.
