Xiaomi “revives” the Redmi Note 8 series with the 2021 version: Old bottle, not very new wine!

Xiaomi recently “revived” the Redmi Note 8 series launched in 2019 with a new version called Redmi Note 8 2021. This machine retains the same design, slightly changed hardware with the chip MediaTek Helio G85.

Redmi Note 8 2021 is equipped with a 6.3-inch LCD, with Full HD + resolution. This screen is a relatively outdated “waterdrop” screen, protected by Gorilla Glass 5. The “waterdrop” area is where the 13MP selfie camera is located.

On the back, the device also comes with a 4 main camera system including: 48MP wide-angle camera, 8MP ultra-wide-angle camera, 2MP macro camera and 2MP depth camera. This parameter is unchanged compared to the 2019 Redmi Note 8 version.

Performance is the main changing factor between the two versions. After two years, Xiaomi equips the 2021 version with a MediaTek Helio G85 chip instead of the rather old Snapdragon 665 chip. Although it does not bring superior performance, the G85 chip gives about 10-15% stronger performance than the chip equipped on the 2019 version.

Redmi Note 8 2021 is equipped with 3GB/4GB/6GB RAM and 32GB/64GB128GB memory, with support for expandable memory cards. The included battery has a constant 4000mAh capacity and also supports 18W fast charging.

Currently, Xiaomi has not announced the official price for the Redmi Note 8 2021, but it is expected that this device will have a relatively cheap price in the segment.
