Recently, a new patent has revealed that Xiaomi seems to be in the development stage of the next generation Mi MIX Alpha, and is likely to be launched later this year. Based on leaked rumors, a concept of the MIX Alpha 2 has been created so that users can see some of the design of this unique smartphone.
The concept was created by Concept Creator and shared by LetsGoDigital. The video shows a pretty smartphone device, but also somewhat “crazy”.
Like the first generation of MIX Alpha, MIX Alpha 2 has a “Waterfall” screen that is flawless. The top and bottom bezels are made as thin as possible to give the device a perfect overall appearance. With a minimal screen bezel, Xiaomi will not be able to integrate the selfie camera or 3D recognition sensor on the front of the device, instead, the solution that Xiaomi can offer is to integrate directly into the bottom of the screen. Unlike the first Alpha, MIX Alpha 2 will no longer have a screen surrounding the body to the back. Now, this screen will only surround to the two edges of the machine and will stop when to the back. It’s not clear why Xiaomi is no longer adopting the design that made many people admire it as in the first generation, it seems that due to manufacturing issues that made Xiaomi make such a decision.
On the back of the MIX Alpha 2, we can see a second secondary screen occupying the lower half of the camera body and a “super huge” camera cluster at the top. Named “AI Super Camera”, this camera will be able to zoom in and out optically (similar to Lumia 1020 or Galaxy K Zoom in the past. With this design, the device will only need one sensor and a single lens, instead of a cluster of 2,3 or even 4 cameras as it is now, this sensor is also expected to have a resolution of 108MP.
