Tram Ho

At the launch event Mi 10T held at the end of September, Xiaomi surprised users when equipped with a screen with a refresh rate of up to 144Hz for a product line in the high-end segment. However, contrary to the expectation of many people, the Mi 10T duo use LCD IPS screen instead of OLED screen like Mi 10 and Mi 10 Pro. Today, Xiaomi explained why it chose LCD panels, not OLED.

Xiaomi Mi 10T / Pro has a 144Hz display but uses an LCD panel

According to Xiaomi, the choice of an LCD screen in the first place was not due to production cost issues. Specifically, the company polled users before, simultaneously conducted many studies and concluded that: Up to 60% of users prefer to use flat screens rather than curved OLED screens.

And although LCD screens in terms of quality cannot be equal to OLED screens, such as color accuracy, depth of black or brightness of the entire screen … LCD screens are cheaper and provide softer visual effects than OLED screens. Xiaomi also said that about 10% of users experience eye problems when using OLED screens today. Finally, Xiaomi concluded: “Equipping a high-quality LCD screen is better than a mid-range AMOLED screen”.

In short, what Xiaomi wants to say here is that the equipment of the LCD screen for the Mi 10T series is according to the wishes of the user, and at the same time affirms that the LCD panel it equips on Mi 10T is a quality panel best quality segment.

However, according to many users who already own Mi 10T / Mi 10T Pro, the screen quality of the device is not really as good as what Xiaomi advertises. The sacrifice of display quality in exchange for a high 144Hz refresh rate makes the screen of Mi 10T inferior to many other products in the same segment.
