Wireless charging Apple AirPower may return from “the dead”

Tram Ho

Nearly a year ago, Apple confirmed that the AirPower wireless charging project was officially dead, even before it was launched. This is due to technical difficulties in designing a wireless charger that can be charged simultaneously for iPhone, Apple Watch and Air Pods. However, according to a recent report, it seems that AirPower will be revived from the dead.

Leaker and YouTuber Jon Prosser revealed that the AirPower project is still being developed silently by Apple. Although there is no exact information about when AirPower will be released, this source confirms that Apple has not given up. Even a prototype is about to be finalized.

This information is believed to be reliable, because earlier expert Ming-Chi Kuo had a similar opinion. Kuo thinks Apple will launch a smaller wireless charging device in the first half of 2020. However, that comment was made before the Covid-19 epidemic broke out, so the launch plan could be subject to postpone.

AirPower was first introduced by Apple in 2017 alongside the iPhone X, at the Steve Jobs Theater. The original plan was to launch AirPower at the end of 2018, but Apple later confirmed that the project was retired. Rumor has it that Apple designed AirPower to charge three different devices at the same time, but it overheated.
