Windows 11 won’t receive a major update until October next year

According to Thurrott, in 2022, Microsoft only plans for 1 major update to bring new features on Windows 11, for comparison, Windows 10 when it first launched received two major updates per year. The major update for Windows 11 is expected to be released in October, but Microsoft will also release cumulative updates to improve the operating system, and these updates will be available each month.

To sync with Windows 11, Microsoft also reduced the frequency of major updates for Windows 10 to 1 per year and will be released in the second half of the year.

“The next feature update for Windows 10 is scheduled for release in the second half of 2022. We will continue to support at least one version of Windows 10 through October 14, 2025,” Microsoft said.

At this time, Microsoft has yet to announce an exact time for the next Windows 11 feature update.
