Windows 11 is already installed on nearly 20% of PCs

A new statistic from advertising platform AdDuplex shows that Windows 11 is continuing to have an increase in market share. Microsoft’s latest operating system is installed in nearly 20% of Windows PCs, up slightly from 16.1% in January.

This number helps Windows 11 take the 3rd position among the most used Windows operating systems today, after Windows 10 21H2 and 21H1.

The data for this chart is collected from over 5,000 apps using AdDuplex v2 on the Microsoft Store. AdDuplex provides an advertising framework for Microsoft Store apps, so this data comes from apps that use that framework.

The survey covers about 60,000 PCs, which is a relatively small survey size, but it shows us the trend of using Windows. It’s also important to note that the survey only covers Windows 10 and on, so not every version of Windows is listed.

AdDuplex’s chart shows that Windows 11 is currently in 3rd place with 19.3% of Windows PCs in use. In second place is Windows 10 version 21H2, which is an update that users get if their PC doesn’t meet the minimum requirements for Windows 11. This version comes in at fourth place in terms of performance. used in January, with 12.1%.

Windows 10 21H1 remains the most used version of Windows, with 27.5%, just down slightly from 28.6% the previous month.

Windows 10 20H2 has dropped to 4th place, with 17.9%. The numbers drop sharply for older versions of Windows 10: version 2004 is 7.9%, 1909 is 2.5% and 1903 is 1.3%. Windows Insiders accounted for 0.3%, unchanged from previous statistics.
