Windows 11 has a secret way to turn the Start Menu back like Windows 10

Tram Ho

Today, a build of Windows 11 has leaked and let us “enjoy” new features ahead of Microsoft’s June 24 announcement.

One of the highlights of the leaked Windows 11 version is the Start Menu. This is not surprising, there have been rumors that Microsoft will adopt what was once the Start Menu of Windows 10X. So, unlike the left menu that Windows has used for decades, the Start Menu on Windows 11 is in the center of the interface.

An interesting thing discovered by programmer Rafael Rivera, it turns out, there is a way in Windows 11 to get back to the Windows 10 Start Menu if you want.

It doesn’t appear to be a feature that Microsoft wants the average user to access at the moment, as it requires editing the Registry and doesn’t appear to be any simple way to do it.

Editing the information in the Registry will make the Start Menu return to the left with the Windows 10 interface like this

This could be useful for businesses, especially if Microsoft adds a quick toggle in Settings for easy access by users. Maybe Microsoft will add such a setting for businesses that don’t want to train employees with the new Windows 11 UX.

Or maybe they will update in the future if users have a need to return to the familiar Start Menu. Microsoft won’t want to repeat the catastrophic failure of Windows 8 to bring an interface so different that there is no way for users to return to what they are familiar with.

Windows 11 with the Start Menu in the middle of the interface can make users feel strange

Enterprises are very important customers of Microsoft and unlike users, businesses are often not aiming for a new experience for the operating system, they need something stable and familiar, so giving The ability to revert to an old Start Menu interface is quite useful because Windows 11 is not fundamentally separate from Windows 10, it is just a change of interface.
