1. Virtual Desktop Support

  • In Windows 10, a very useful feature is the ability to create one or more virtual desktops.
  • How to create a virtual desktop: use the shortcut Windows + Tab => (1) press and hold the window to move, then drag it to another virtual Desktop available.
    (2) Drag a window to move to + New Desktop to add a new virtual Desktop.

2. Pin the app to Start Menu / Tastbar

  • Steps to pin an application to the Start Menu / Tastbar:

Step 1: Find the application you want to pin to the list or search for it by entering the application’s name in the search box (Type heare to search). operations that can be performed. You can Pin or remove Pin from here.

Step 2: Press and hold (or right-click) the app, then select Pin to Start (Pin to Start / Pin to taskbar)

Step 3: To unpin an app, choose Unpin from Start (Unpin from Start / Unpin from taskbar)

3. Customize the Start Menu

  • You can make custom Live Tiles using customizations such as:

Uninstall Start Menu Start (Unpin From Start) Add to Taskbar (Pin to Taskbar) => mentioned in item ** 2. Pin apps to Start Menu / Tastbar **

4. Schedule Dark Mode to automatically toggle Dark Mode on Windows 10

  • Dark Mode (night mode), is a mode that brings the user interface from a light background to a dark background to help protect the user’s eyes at night.
  • Unlike the night light mode – Light Night is only affecting the color, helping to soothe the user’s eyes at night. Dark Mode completely changes the interface to a dark background without affecting the brightness of the screen

a. Set to automatically turn on Dark Mode

Step 1: Press the key combination Windows + S or Windows + Q => then enter the keyword Task Scheduler => click Run as administrator to run the program.

Step 2: In the new window that appears, click Create Basic Task .

Step 3: Put a related name for the Task in the box Name => then click Next . Example: Name = Turn on Dark Mode auto (as shown).

Step 4: In the new window, you can schedule to turn on Dark Mode every day => after day setting is complete, click Next .

Step 5: In the next interface, you can set the date and time to automatically turn on Dark Mode => click Next to continue.

Step 6: Click Start a program => then click Next .

Step 7: In the next interface

In the box Program / script will input:

reg.exe

In the box Add arguments (optional) will input:

add HKCUSOFTWAREMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersionThemesPersonalize /v AppsUseLightTheme /t REG_DWORD /d 0 /f

=> click Next to continue.

Step 8: Check the setting information and click Finish to complete the installation.

b. Set to automatically turn off Dark Mode

Step 1: You follow the order from step 1 to step 6 like part a. Set to automatically turn on Dark Mode . However, the naming part you set is different for easy distinction and management. Example: Name = Turn OFF Dark Mode auto

Step 2: In the Program interface:

In the box Program / Script will input:

reg.exe

In the box Add arguments (optional) will input:

add HKCUSOFTWAREMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersionThemesPersonalize /v AppsUseLightTheme /t REG_DWORD /d 1 /f

c. Clear the setting to automatically enable / disable Dark Mode

  • In case you want to turn off, or delete this setting, open Task Scheduler and click on Task Scheduler Libary => then right-click task => click Disable to cancel or Delete to delete.

6. Light Night – Features eye protection at night

  • Night light Win 10 allows users to control the screen light accordingly.
  • Light of Night Light works to soothe, prevent eye strain and protect eyes when working with computers in low light conditions, or at night.

a. How to activate the Night Light feature

Step 1: Right-click on the Desktop screen and select Display Settings .

Step 2: In the Settings window, switch the state OFF => ON in the Night Light section and you will notice that the screen will turn yellow to help ease your eyes.

b. Set to automatically turn on the Night light mode

Step 1: Right-click on the Desktop screen and select Display Settings .

Step 2: In the Settings window, select ** Night light settings **

  • Here you can customize the night light accordingly, by adjusting the slider in the Strength section

7. Some ways to turn off Windows 10 computer

  • Shutdown Win 10 by default
  • Turn off the computer by command with Run Open the Run command window with the key combination Windows + R => enter the command shutdown / s => press OK or Enter => then the computer will be shut down immediately

  • Timer shutdown by Run command Open the Run command window with the key combination Windows + R => enter the command shutdown -s -t 60 => press OK or Enter Note: 60 = time you want to set the shutdown
