When Korean cars surpass Mercedes and BMW: Genesis GV60 will be the world’s first wireless charging electric car model

According to Green Car Reports, Genesis GV60 – the first all-electric SUV of the Korean luxury brand will support wireless charging technology when the car is fully launched next year.

Wireless charging technology on Genesis GV60 is said to be designed and developed by American startup WiTricity. This is an old partner of Hyundai who has worked with the Korean corporation to develop wireless battery charging technology with the finished product that has been partly revealed since 2018 in the form of a concept.

If using technology 3 years ago as the foundation, the lithium-ion battery system on GV60 uses magnetic induction generated from a magnetic field plate placed under the car to recharge with a capacity equivalent to 11 kW power source.

Before that, both big giants from Germany, Mercedes-Benz and BMW, have been testing wireless car charging technology since 2017 but so far have not been confident enough to do so. Even if it can only exploit a very small potential from wireless car charging technology, Genesis will still be considered a success when leading competitors with a thickness that is dozens of times superior to it. However, if the above system fails or pushes the car price too high, this will be a bad trade-off for Genesis.

In addition to wireless charging, the Genesis GV60 also carries two other top-notch technologies, the unique Crystal Sphere gearshift sphere and the traditional side mirror replacement camera that has not been widely applied even though it has appeared for many years.
