What did the universe look like the day you were born? This is the answer from NASA

On April 24, 1990, the Discovery space shuttle was launched from NASA’s Kennedy Space Center, carrying one of the world’s largest space telescopes ever launched into space: Hubble. The mission was successful, and Hubble is still running smoothly to this day.

Hubble has a mission to explore the universe 24/7, without a break. In other words, it has been observing the phenomenal phenomena in the universe in all that time, and of course, on your birthday too.

Recently, NASA has created an algorithm that allows you to see what Hubble has observed on each specific day of the year. For those whose birthdays are right on the occasion of the world’s social isolation, this must be a very special way to celebrate their birthdays.

Do you want to know what the universe looks like on your birthday? The following is the guide for you.

Step 1: Access the NASA simulation here

Step 2: Choose your birthday (or someone else’s … depending), then click “Submit”

Step 3: Select “See full image” and see the result

This is what Hubble captured on October 23, 1995

Hubble captured this scene on February 21, 2014. This is part of the Monkey Head Nebula – a beautifully shaped star region with glowing clouds of dust and gas.

On October 13, 2019, Hubble captured the formation of a newly born star – Herbig-Haro 24.
