Recently, Vietnam Social Insurance received information from the Investigation Police Agency – Nam Sach District Police, Hai Duong Province about having a number of subjects pretending to be Fanpage, Facebook of Vietnam Social Insurance to scam and appropriate accounts. property of the people.
Specifically, on February 6, 2023, due to the need to withdraw social insurance money before the deadline, Ms. Nguyen Thi V. was born in 1992 in Thanh Ha district, Hai Duong province, and used the Facebook account “Nguyen V.” to comment on an article on the Facebook Fanpage named “Social Insurance” and was instructed to directly contact the application-receiving department named “Nhan Thanh”.
After contacting via messenger with Nhan Thanh, Ms. V. was consulted and guided at no cost, just needed to make a profile to withdraw and pay the amount of 1 million VND/document. On February 10, Ms. V. asked Nhan Thanh to make 2 sets of documents to withdraw money for her and her husband, Mr. Nguyen Van T., with the total amount the couple received will be 202 million VND.
After that, according to Nhan Thanh’s instructions, Ms. V. transferred the total amount of over 109 million VND to account number 1021007230, the account holder’s name is LE NAM, belonging to SHB bank. As a result, Ms. V. still could not withdraw the money and could not contact Nhan Thanh, so she reported the case to the Public Security Agency.
This is not the first time that Fanpages, Facebooks impersonating social insurance agencies or social insurance agency officials to cheat and appropriate people’s property. Previously, in some localities such as Ho Chi Minh City, An Giang province, etc., there were also cases of fraud on dossiers for social insurance benefits to appropriate property similar to the above case.
Specifically, these scammers ask employees to provide the social insurance payment process on the “VssID – Digital Social Insurance” application to calculate the amount of unemployment benefits. After that, the subjects will help the employees with disbursement procedures in 2 days and take a service fee of 5% of the total amount received by the employee, this amount must be paid in advance. However, after transferring money to this subject, the employee did not receive any allowance and was deprived of the 5% service amount paid in advance to the subject.
