Vingroup transferred the project of manufacturing 5G telecommunications equipment to Viettel

According to the agreement of the leaders of the two groups on March 19, 2021, Vingroup transferred free of charge to Viettel the entire project, including invested research equipment, knowledge system and research results. The transfer ceremony of 5G gNodeB base station research and development project from VinSmart Research and Production Joint Stock Company (under Vingroup) to Viettel High Technology Corporation (VTH – under Viettel Group) has just been conducted by the two sides.
Mr. Nguyen Vu Ha, General Director of VHT Corporation assessed that the transfer of the 5G gNodeB mobile base station development project from Vingroup to Viettel will help promote the strengths of each party: Viettel focuses on network development. telecommunications core and EnodeB station; Vingroup focuses on research and development of 5G terminals.
Previously, in October 2020, Viettel Hi-Tech Industry Corporation and VinSmart Research and Production Joint Stock Company signed a cooperation agreement to develop 5G gNodeB mobile base station system.
In November 2020, Viettel officially launched its 5G commercial trial business.
The transfer of research from Vingroup to Viettel is a strategic step of the two groups contributing to speeding up the development process.
